Liverpool legend sends perfect response to classless Manchester City chant

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has responded perfectly to the shocking video of Manchester City stars singing a version of Kop chant "Allez, Allez, Allez".

The footage which went viral on social media, showed some of City's first-team squad joining in with a song that appears to make several distasteful references.

Pep Guardiola's team flew home from Brighton on Sunday after being crowned Premier League champions.

Manchester City deny players' chant is about Liverpool fan Sean Cox or Hillsborough

And a video from their plane journey was leaked online and showed the players singing the song.

The lyrics are as follows: "All the way to Kiev, to end up in defeat.

"Crying in the stands, and battered on the streets.

"Kompany injured Salah, victims of it all."

But the former Tranmere Rovers striker had the perfect response to what fans have called unprofessional and vile behaviour.

Aldridge shared a post of Liverpool musician John Power singing a rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' at Boss Night's end of season party.

The Anfield icon wrote: "We’ve been hearing a lot about football songs this evening and Man City players singing detrimentally about our Massive club!!

"This is what football singing is all about! Pure CLASS, BOOM."

Manchester City have doubly denied that the chant is in reference to Liverpool fan Sean Cox and the Hillsborough tragedy.

According to the Mirror and a number of national media outlets such as Sky Sports , a statement from the Premier League champions insisted the song has been a regular chant during the season and refers to Liverpool losing the Champions League final in Kiev.

The statement read: "Any suggestion that the lyrics relate to Sean Cox or the Hillsborough tragedy is entirely without foundation."
