Liverpool legend's hilarious message to Peter Crouch after former striker's perfect Anfield hat-trick

Sunday marked the twelve year anniversary of Peter Crouch's perfect hat-trick for Liverpool against Arsenal.

Speaking on his BBC 5 Live show 'That Peter Crouch Podcast' the Burnley striker revealed the messages left by his former team-mates on the matchball he received after netting his three goals.

The ball, which has been in storage, was unwrapped by the ex-England international for a trip down memory lane.

The first comment Crouch read out was from Welshman, Craig Bellamy who had wrote: "See what happens when you play 90 minutes, cosmic."

Ex-Red Jermaine Pennant also added a cheeky comment on the day: "Brilliant big man wouldn't have done it without your mate Pennant."

Rafa Benitez's Liverpool defeated Arsene Wenger's side 4-1 to climb above the Gunners in the Premier League table, and it was Crouch's marvellous trio that helped secure a famous win.

The most comical message came from Kop legend, Jamie Carragher who humorously wrote: "You may get a few games off (Dirk) Kuyt now!"

Reading the note scribbled in marker pen on the 2006/07 Nike football Crouch laughed: "Who wrote that, oh it's Carra, that's funny!"
