Steve McManaman has revealed how he had a chance encounter with a familiar face during a walkabout in Belfast.
The Liverpool legend is currently in Northern Ireland to cover Wednesday night's UEFA Super Cup between Chelsea and Villarreal.
The former Real Madrid and England winger is working as part of BT Sport's coverage of the game, but found some spare time to check out the capital city on Tuesday.
And it was during his trip that he bumped into another former Liverpool player, none other than Northern Ireland defender Ryan McLaughlin.
"I haven't been in Belfast for a number of years. It is great to be back," McManaman told Belfast Live.
"I arrived yesterday and had a nice walk around the city, and bumped into a load of people.
"I actually bumped into Ryan McLaughlin, which was good. I just saw him in the street. It is always good to see him because I know him from the Liverpool Academy.
"I saw him on the street and called his mobile. I could see him looking at it and I thought 'you better not ignore me!'.
"Thankfully he answered and it was good to have a catch-up.
"I love coming to Belfast and it is lovely here. It is a great occasion."
McManaman - who spent a total of 11 years at Anfield including two years with the club's Academy - has been part of the Reds' coaching set-up and has worked with the Academy's emerging stars.
McLaughlin spent three years with Liverpool's Academy before signing a pro deal with the Merseyside giants in 2014. He went on to have two loan spells with Barnsley and Aberdeen before leaving for Oldham Athletic in 2016.
