Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler hits out at Luis Suarez and explains his 'big problem' with Barcelona star

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has hit out at Barcelona striker Luis Suarez for disrespecting his former club.

Suarez was back at Anfield on Tuesday night with Barca after celebrating his strike in their 3-0 victory at the Nou Camp last week in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The 32-year-old, who became a hero at Liverpool but left for Barcelona in 2015, has said that he wouldn't celebrate if he scored back at his former club.

However Fowler was critical of Suarez and the way he left Liverpool.

He said: "I’m a big fan of him as a player, don’t get me wrong.

"I thought he was brilliant when he was here. But I have a big problem with the way the fans love him.

"I really do. Because he left Liverpool and everyone was going on about how you can go to Barcelona and play but the way he left Liverpool - he wanted to go play for Arsenal.

"And people say he stayed and he was still brilliant and he never downed tools. He started playing well because he wanted to leave.

"He wanted to go to Arsenal. And I have a big thing with that. So that’s what annoys me about how the Liverpool fans love him. Michael [Owen] won’t like me saying this but Michael did far more for this club and he’s ever done.

Jose Mourinho reminds Liverpool fans why he's so bitter about Chelsea goal

"I’m not interested in whether he celebrates if he scores or not but his antics last week playing against Liverpool show no respect whatsoever. I know he’s a sort of street footballer, if you like, but I thought his behaviour towards Liverpool, the club, the fans, showed no respect whatsoever.

"And he’s coming out now talking about he’s not going to celebrate if he scores because he’s going to show respect - where was the respect last week? It was just non-existent. For me, I just have a big problem with him."
