Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher's cheeky message to Steven Gerrard after Rangers sending off

Jamie Carragher has sent Steven Gerrard a tongue-in-cheek message following his sending off in Rangers' win at Livingston.

The former Reds captain was sent off after being shown two yellow cards at half-time following his protest on the pitch to referee John Beaton's decision to book Alfredo Morelos for diving.

Morelos went onto get a late winner for Rangers, who extended their lead at the top of the SPL to 18 points as they edge ever closer to the title.

Gerrard, though, had to watch part of the game from the stands, but it didn't stop his side who continued their domination of Scottish football.

The ex-Liverpool captain has been widely tipped to take over at Anfield once Jurgen Klopp leaves his post.

Reds supporters will be hoping it doesn't happen anytime soon, with Klopp still having plenty more to offer on Merseyside.

Gerrard, though, is showing great progression as a largely inexperienced manager in Scotland - as he looks set to end Celtic's dominance of the last nine years.

His former Liverpool colleague and close friend Carragher has sent him a message following the news of his red card.

"Good luck Stevie, son, go for it, man, you get through to the next round and you're on fire," the ex-Reds defender said, as he tried to impersonate a Scottish accent on CBS Sports.

"I love you, man, I'll see you at Liverpool next season!"

Fans also loved Steven Gerrard's post-match interview with Sky Sports as he was asked if he was worried about his star striker Alfredo Morelos and his perceived reputation.

With a completely straight face, the former LFC captain said: "Don't worry about Alfredo, he has just scored the winner and is in there dancing around with no top on to Sweet Caroline."

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Klopp could say 'yes' to the opportunity to one day manage Germany's national team although he is contracted at Anfield until at least 2024.

The article also states that if this does indeed happen, then Gerrard is the man being lined up to replace the German boss.

Liverpool's owner John W. Henry and chairman Tom Werner have both been keeping a close eye on the Reds legend's development at Ibrox, it is claimed.

The club's board are also reportedly confident that Gerrard would turn down any other Premier League club looking to appoint him as manager.
