Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher puts Gary Neville in his place with Erling Haaland comment

Jamie Carragher claimed that Liverpool do not need Erling Haaland after reports emerged that the striker could be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The Norweigan's agent Mino Raiola claimed that there is a 'big chance' that the in-demand striker could leave this summer - before naming four clubs who he could join - with two notable teams not included in this list.

Raiola stated that he does not expect Liverpool or Manchester United to be in the conversation to sign the 21-year-old.

Haaland has scored 74 goals in 72 games for Dortmund since joining the club in January 2020 and has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe.

Sky Sports analysts Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have spoken about Raiola's comments in the build up for Friday night football this evening, with Brentford taking on Watford.

And Carragher made a joke at Man Utd's expense after stating that Liverpool do not need the striker.

He said: "His agent came out and mentioned four clubs today who he could go to and Manchester United wasn't mentioned. He mentioned Manchester City, so are they now the big dogs in Manchester?"

Neville replied by asking if Liverpool were mentioned, before Carragher stated: "We don't need him. You've got two 36-year-old's up front!"

The two went on to state that they expect both Haaland and Mbappe to move clubs in what could be a seismic summer in world football.

Asked when Haaland will leave Dortmund, Raiola told SPORT1 : "Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after. But there is a big chance that Erling will leave this summer. We will see.

"He can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City - these are the big clubs he can go to.

"City have won the championship five times in the last few years, much more than United.

"We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come."
