Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher makes blunt Manchester United claim after Cristiano Ronaldo admission

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has explained why Manchester United will not win this season’s Champions League.

The Reds booked their place in the last-16 back in October, and their five wins out of five have helped them also secure top spot in Group B.

This week’s Champions League games also saw Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all book qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

Man City’s win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night saw them also secure top spot in their group, which led to Carragher making a claim.

Carragher claimed that teams who have “passengers” are not capable of winning the Champions League, which led to him saying Man United will not lift the trophy.

"I’ve said this about Ronaldo as well but at least Ronaldo is getting goals," Carragher told CBS Sports, when talking about PSG’s Lionel Messi.

"Ronaldo is a passenger without the ball, his goals are making up for that at this minute."

"In the Champions League games, certainly tonight their (PSG's) goals haven’t made up for it," Carragher added.

"Unless you score, you’re carrying passengers, and at this level of football you’ll have no chance. Manchester United won’t win the Champions League."
