Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher left 'gobsmacked' by Craig Bellamy outburst

Peter Crouch has revealed how Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was left "gobsmacked" by a foul-mouthed outburst from Craig Bellamy.

All three were team-mates at the Reds during the 2006/07 season, while Carragher and Bellamy were united again at Anfield in 2011/12.

However, Crouch has highlighted a tale of when the duo were in opposition after being asked which player gave the most 'verbals' during his career.

"How things changed through the course of my career," said the former Liverpool striker. "When I started out, loads of people would be jabbering away through games.

"Kevin Muscat, for instance, was terrifying because if he said something you knew he meant it.

"He was a very aggressive man, to put it mildly.

"Robbie Savage and Craig Bellamy were relentless. Jamie Carragher tells a story about Bellers. Carra played a ball up to Robbie Fowler and then had a go at him for not running into space.

"Bellers, playing for Newcastle at the time, turned to Carra and said: 'Who the f*** do you think you are you talking to? That's Robbie Fowler!'"

Crouch, writing in the Daily Mail, added: "Even when it had nothing to do with him, Bellers could not help getting involved. Carra was gobsmacked.

"In my final few years, those types of players had all but disappeared."
