Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has a warning for Luis Suarez ahead of Anfield return

Jamie Carragher has sent a warning to former team-mate Luis Suarez ahead of his return to Anfield next week.

Suarez spent three-and-a-half-years on Merseyside before making the switch to the Catalan side in the summer of 2014.

But despite being worshipped by the Anfield faithful during his time with the club, the forward showed no mercy towards his former side when the two met in the first-leg of the Champions League semi-finals last night.

After opening the scoring on 15 minutes, the forward then emphatically celebrated with his team-mates, before going on to be involved in a tunnel bust-up with Andy Robertson during the half-time interval.

And Carragher now believes that the reception the Uruguayan may receive upon his first return to Anfield may now not be what he expected.

"I don't think it will be as warm as he would have hoped," Carragher told Viasport after the game at the Camp Nou.

"He was Luis Suarez. You love him when he is in your team and you hate him when he plays for the opposition.

Andy Robertson delivers perfect assessment of Barcelona defeat straight after leaving Liverpool dressing room

"It was the first time he was in the opposition and I don't think Liverpool fans will have liked him.

"He plays on the edge, very street-wise. A great first goal for him but I don't think it will be the hero homecoming he will be hoping for."
