Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher in Strictly Come Dancing claim - but all is not as it seems

Jamie Carragher appeared to drop a major TV bombshell by revealing that he is set to appear on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Kop icon was speaking on Sky Sports when fellow pundit Gary Neville dropped the revelation into a conversation with former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman.

It is not the first time the Bootle-born Reds legend has got tongues wagging that he might be set to appear on a television series.

Back in 2017, Carragher posted a message from his agent on his Instagram account suggesting he had been asked to appear on Dancing on Ice.

And although the former defender opted against doing ITV show, it appeared that he could be set to don his best ballroom attire.

Neville kicked things off by asking Seaman: “Dave, you’ve been on Strictly Come Dancing and Carra’s been asked to go on the next series.”

“No, no,” replied Seaman. “It was Dancing on Ice, mate!”

With Neville replying: “Sorry, Dancing on Ice. I knew it was one of those programmes!

“But Carra’s been asked to go on, so what advice would you give him?”

Carragher nodded in agreement of the statement before asking Seaman: “What do you think, Dave?”

To which the former Man City man said: “What are you doing, Dancing on Ice or Strictly?”

“I’m doing Strictly,” Carragher cheekily replied, with Seaman saying back: “Can you dance?”

To which Carragher said: “We’ll find out. I’ll have a go. After a few bevies down me. I’ll have a go.”

Then at the end of the show, Carragher added: “I will be going on Strictly and I will be practising dancing in the next couple of weeks after Liverpool win the league.”

Sky presented Kelly Cates - daughter of Reds great Kenny Dalglish - said on the revelation: “Half of the time I don’t know whether he’s joking or not!

“Carra could be going on Strictly… I just don’t know.”

Carra later revealed it was a wind-up by replying to a @LivEchoLFC tweet and saying: "No it was a wind up by Neville that I thought I’d go with for a laugh!"
