Liverpool legend explains why fans shouldn't be worried by Mo Salah's barren run

Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes it is only a matter of time before Mo Salah rediscovers his scoring touch.

The Egyptian is on a barren run of form having failed to find the net in each of his last seven matches.

He will attempt to end the longest streak of scoreless games in his Reds career so far when Jurgen Klopp's side host Tottenham at Anfield later today.

Salah came close to beating Rush's record haul of 47 strikes in a single season when he plundered 44 goals in just 52 outings last term.

He has 20 in the current campaign and Rush insists he is not concerned by Salah's lack of recent productivity.

“I had times like that, we all do,” said the Welshman, who scored 346 times for Liverpool .

Jurgen Klopp reveals one thing he's not worried about in Liverpool's title battle

“You have times like that but the key thing is keeping your confidence.

“Never get scared to get into the positions to miss. Once you get scared about that, then it becomes a problem.

“If you are getting the chances and missing, that is not a problem. We have seen what he can do last season and earlier this season. Keep getting the chances and his confidence will come back.”

Despite Salah's form Liverpool have just three goals fewer in the Premier League this season than they had at the same stage last term.

Sadio Mane has chipped in with 17, matching Salah's haul, while Roberto Firmino has 11.

And Rush says personal tallies mean little without silverware to show for it as the Reds hunt glory domestically and on the continent.

“Mo scored 40 goals last year but Liverpool didn’t win anything," he added. "He’s not scored as many goals this time but hopefully they will be winning something and that’s what happened when I wasn’t scoring.

“We had Kenny (Dalglish) and the midfielders scoring and we were winning things, so it balanced itself out.

“Mo's had a quiet period but he is playing well. He is not scoring what he would like but he is playing well and his time will come.

“The big thing is that Sadio Mane is on fire at the moment. Mo has been getting one or two chances but they have just not been going in.

“If one goes in off his backside, you will see him back among the goals. I am not disappointed because although he has not scored, his all-round play has been very, very good.”
