Liverpool legend delivers verdict on Wilfried Zaha's future amid Arsenal and Everton links

Crystal Palace suits Wilfried Zaha down to the ground, according to Liverpool legend John Barnes.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move away from Palace this summer, with Arsenal and Everton among the clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old.

Both Arsenal and Everton have had bids turned down by Palace this summer for Zaha, and although the Gunners have signed Nicolas Pepe in a club record deal, the future of the Eagles ace continues to dominate headlines, with Everton still heavily linked with the Ivorian.

But with time running out in the summer transfer window, with the deadline at 5pm tomorrow (Thursday), Barnes believes Palace is the best place for Zaha, who he said could struggle at a bigger club.

“I don’t feel Zaha fits into any team, I think he’s a bit of a maverick," he said, speaking to bonuscodebets .

"He does what he does and plays by himself, not in a team. He likes to dribble around five defenders. Therefore, he can’t go to Man City and Liverpool; he can’t go wandering all over the field.

"He plays whatever position he wants for Crystal Palace and picks up the ball on the right and the left – that’s not fitting into a team.

"He’s got great ability and that’s why I think Crystal Palace suit him down to the ground because they allow him to do that, he won’t be allowed to at another club. I don’t think a player of his ilk should be looking to be a Plan B player to come off the bench.”
