Liverpool legend and Everton boss surprise names in running to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham

Tottenham are looking for a new manager, and the bookies have a Liverpool legend in the running.

Spurs have confirmed that Mourinho has left the club, along with the rest of his backroom staff, with the club in seventh place in the Premier League table, two points behind the Reds with a game in hand.

With Mourinho gone, talks are already swirling about who could replace him in the dugout, and there are two names in the betting which may be a surprise to some people.

Liverpool legend and current Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is priced a 12/1 with BetVictor.

The former Reds skipper has recently guided Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title, his first major trophy in senior football management.

Elsewhere in the betting is Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is the same price as Gerrard 12/1.

Ancelotti is currently in his second season at Goodison Park, and currently has the Blues in eighth place in the Premier League table.

RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite with the bookies with 2/1, while former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers (8/1) is also in the running.

Here is how the bookies BetVictor see who is in the running to be the next Tottenham manager.

Julian Nagelsmann: 5/2

Brendan Rodgers: 8/1

Nuno Espirito Santo: 10/1

Rafa Benitez: 10/1

Diego Simone: 12/1

Steven Gerrard: 12/1

Carlo Ancelotti: 12/1

Massimiliano Allegri: 12/1
