Liverpool kids take on home PE classes with Joe Wicks in pictures

Families across Liverpool and the world joined in with an epic online home PE lesson with YouTube's The Body Coach.

Health and fitness expert Joe Wicks has vowed to give free PE lessons from 9am every weekday while the country's schools are closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

More than 800,000 families from across the nation and all over the world including Belfast, Brazil, Canada and Jamaica, tuned in to see Joe host a PE class from his front room.

The routine included a five-minute warm-up before 10 minutes of exercise including a break and then another 10 minutes of exercise including running or marching on the spot, squats, star jumps, lunging, boxing, frog jumps, mountain climbers, mummy kicks and kangaroo hops.

On Friday, it was announced that all UK schools would be closed indefinitely, although some will remain open to take care of the children of key workers.

The news has left parents to take on the role of teachers as they navigate the new 'normal' of home schooling.

Families embraced their new home school life by sharing pictures of themselves working out to Joe Wicks' first exercise tutorial this morning, which left some parents exhausted. You can tune in here to take part.

We've rounded up some of the best pictures and videos we spotted on Twitter.
