Liverpool kids' heartwarming plea shows why we all need to tackle climate change

Liverpool children have sent out a powerful appeal to adults to make changes to help tackle climate change and protect their generation from crisis.

Pupils at Bishop Martin Church of England Primary School, in Woolton, are asking everyone in Liverpool to do make a single change to tackle global heating, as part of the ECHO's #Do1Thing campaign.

Members of the school's eco-committee challenged people across our city to walk more, use electricity less and eat locally grown food as part of a plan to get everyone to lower our CO2 emmissions and help save the environment.

They also encouraged people to reduce, reuse, recycle and repurpose their things to help tackle the climate crisis.

Isla Mottram said: "If we don’t change we’ll have no future at all and everyone needs to know that we have an important role to play.

"I also feel like if there’s suddenly needs to be a big change most people will think it’s too big a challenge to even try and then we’ll get nowhere.

"If we all make a small change each people will see that as achievable and we’ll hopefully succeed."

Lilah Wayne added: "I think adults should listen to children like Greta Thunberg and actually take note of what we’re saying instead of only talking about Brexit and money."

Watch the video above to listen to some of the reasons pupils at the school think we all need to do something to help - and how we can.
