Liverpool 'join' Man City in transfer race for £34m midfielder and offer to 'double' Barcelona star's wages

The January transfer window is moving ever closer, and Liverpool continue to be linked with potential new additions to their squad.

Ibrahima Konate was the only first-team addition that the Reds brought to the club during the summer window, while several left Anfield either on a loan basis or on permanent deals.

Despite the transfer window still being closed, that hasn’t stopped Liverpool being credited with an interest in a host of players.

Here, we take a look at some of the latest rumours doing the rounds online and on social media and how likely they are to happen.

Who?

Renato Sanches, Lille midfielder.

Where?

Spanish news outlet Fichajes .

What?

According to the report, Liverpool are one of five clubs who could make a move to sign Sanches in the coming months.

The report states that the Reds are joined by Manchester City, Newcastle United, AC Milan and Barcelona in being potential new destinations for the Portugal international.

It has also been claimed that Sanches is valued at around €40million (£34m), but it does not specify whether a move is more likely either in January or next summer.

Liverpool were initially linked with Sanches last summer, but the midfielder suffered an injury in August that ended any hopes of the player leaving Lille.

Who?

Ronald Araujo, Barcelona defender.

What?

According to the report, Liverpool have entered talks to sign the Barcelona centre-back in the coming months.

The report goes on to say that the Reds are prepared to double Araujo’s current wages at the Nou Camp in order to tempt him into moving to Anfield.

Araujo’s current deal runs until the summer of 2023, and there have been rumours of a possible extension, but as things stand his contract runs out in 18 months time.

Along with Liverpool, fellow Premier League outfit Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the Uruguay international.

Who?

Daniel Jebbison, Sheffield United striker.

Where?

TeamTalk .

What?

According to the report, Liverpool are among a number of clubs interested in the talented striker currently on loan at Burton Albion.

The report goes on to say that Jebbison could be recalled by the Blades in January, amid reported interest from a host of clubs including the Reds.

Everton, Brighton and West Ham have also been credited with an interest in the 18-year-old’s signature.

Jebbison’s contract with Sheffield United expires next summer, so were Liverpool to sign him at the end of the season then the Blades would be due a compensation fee.
