Liverpool is officially the safest place to live in the UK

Liverpool was named the most secure city in the UK according to a new study by Confused.com.

Compared to other cities, Liverpool has a significantly lower crime rate, with less than 60,000 reports in one year. The UK average is 71,000 reports.

The new study analysed the UK's most populated cities to find which areas are the safest and most dangerous to live in the UK.

Liverpool also comes in first place for the number of CCTV cameras, with 35,255 cameras monitoring the city.

More than one in four (28%) people in Liverpool say the number of CCTV cameras in the city help to make them feel safe.

Confused.com looked at things like crime and burglary rates, police presence, the number of CCTV cameras and ambulance response time in order to rank the different UK cities using an 'index score'.
