It’s official - Liverpool is better than London. Not that it needed proving to those of us that live here - or to anyone who has ever visited.
But now a nationwide poll to find the UK’s Favourite Place has relegated London while Liverpool is currently in second position on the leaderboard.
Run by our sister site 2Chill, which features recommendations of staycations and days out around the country, the competition drops the 10 places with the least votes each week.
Also axed at 9am this morning were Cheshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Cumbria, Coventry, Cambridgeshire and Devon.
People across the country have been supporting their personal picks of all the beautiful, fun, welcoming and charming places in Britain, citing everything from stunning architecture to friendly residents as their reasons for voting.
From today everyone will be given another chance to take part in the poll - even if they have voted before. So make sure you support our brilliant city before it’s too late.
Currently in the lead is Newcastle, which squeaked past Liverpool earlier this week. Following closely behind are Manchester, Wales and Belfast.

Rach Dawn showed her support for the city on the Echo’s Facebook page, posting: “Liverpool is the best!!”
Gulam Ismail agreed, commenting: “Nothing but Liverpool.”
