Liverpool is getting its first rooftop sky bar offering panoramic views of the city

Liverpool is getting its first rooftop sky bar were visitors will be able to take in panoramic views of the city.

It will be based inside the city centre's new four-star hotel opening in our former ECHO offices based on Old Hall Street.

INNSIDE by hotel chain Melia is due to open in spring 2020 and will be made up of 207 bedrooms, a restaurant and bar area plus a conference area with a café and a gym.

How the ECHO building could look, under plans to turn it into a hotel with skybar (Handout)

The rooftop sky bar will be based at the top of the tower which had previously been used as office space but had been vacant for a number of years before Melia bought the site.

While Liverpool does have rooftop bars already such as Oh Me Oh My's Goodness Gracious Melia's will be the first rooftop sky bar.

It means visitors will be able to enjoy a drink while looking out at Liverpool's skyline and the River Mersey.

Details of Liverpool's new city centre hotel, which is based in the business district, were first revealed back in 2018.

At street level there will be three retail units facing Old Hall Street, with a gym in the podium of the building.

The tower and podium level of the building will be refreshed in a way that respects the original look of the building.
