Liverpool's Irish music event Feis Festival has been cancelled by organisers

Irish music festival Feis Liverpool has announced that its 2019 event will not go ahead.

The festival, which was set to return to the Pier Head on July 6, has officially been cancelled by organisers.

Vince Power, who organises Feis , released a statement via Twitter; it said: “It’s with deep sadness that I have to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Feis Liverpool due to the lack of recent ticket sales and the company's inability to sustain the losses.

“I apologise to all the people who have bought tickets and supported the Feis, all the artists performing and all the people who have worked on this event for the inconvenience.

“With the potential shortfall of £400,000 the majority of which has been borne by me personally, it is not possible to carry on.

“I advise all ticket holders to contact your point of purchase for a refund.''

Festival-goers have already expressed their sadness with the news, with one commenting: “Nooooooooooo”, while another said: “Absolutely gutted”.

However, some have been commenting on the announcement asking for help with their refunds and asking why they hadn’t been informed directly about the cancellation.

Note: The Liverpool Irish Festival , which is a separate event, will go ahead as planned 17-27 October 2019
