Liverpool 'interested' in Philippe Coutinho but face competition from Everton and Steven Gerrard

We are five days into the January transfer window and Liverpool's lack of options this month could become a problem.

With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita all away at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Reds are short of options in the attacking third, especially with injuries and COVID also having an impact.

But cries for a new midfielder from fans have been getting louder, too, after the middle third of the pitch looked over-run in Sunday's draw with Chelsea.

Here are all the latest Liverpool transfer rumours from around the world.

What?

It wouldn't be the transfer window without Liverpool being linked with bringing Coutinho back to the club.

After moving to Barcelona four years ago, the move has not worked out and the Catalan club are trying to offload the Brazilian for a cut-price fee.

And according to the report, Liverpool are 'interested' in Coutinho, but they face competition from Merseyside rivals Everton, as well as Aston Villa, who are managed by Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.

Who?

Denis Zakaria

Where?

The Express

What?

Liverpool didn't replace Gini Wijnaldum after the Dutchman left in the summer for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds have looked depleted and leggy in midfield in recent weeks and calls for a new midfielder have been made.

And this report suggests that Borussia Monchengladbach's Zakaria could be the man to change Liverpool's fortunes for a fee of £6million.

Who?

Aguibou Camara

Where?

What?

The Guinean will reportedly be scouted by Liverpool when the Africa Cup of Nations begins.

Olympiacos' versatile attacking midfielder seems to fit the profile for the type of player signed by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

At just 20 years old, Camara is also attracting interest from Italian giants AC Milan.
