Liverpool injury worries mount as Andy Robertson left out of Scotland squad

Liverpool's injury concerns heightened on Sunday as Andy Robertson was excluded from Scotland's squad due to a hamstring concern.

Robertson suffered the injury as Scotland beat Serbia on penalties, after extra time, and was left out of Sunday's matchday squad to face Slovakia.

Speaking ahead of the game, Scotland head coach Steve Clarke said: "Andy Robertson is the most doubtful out of the ones who have a wee question mark over them.

Clarke made eight changes for the Nations League qualifier, with only Kieran Tierney, Ryan Christie and John McGinn, who was named captain, kept their places following Thursday's Euro 2020 play-off win.

The news comes as yet another blow for Jurgen Klopp's champions, who have lost both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term injuries, while Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the next few weeks with a hamstring complaint.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is currently self-isolating while on international duty with Egypt having twice tested positive for coronavirus.
