Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold out of contention for the upcoming Premier League game against Leicester but revealed that Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho could return.
Alexander-Arnold has been struggling with a calf problem, which forced him to be substituted in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
Captain Henderson picked up an injury of his own while on international duty with England, getting taken off at half-time against Belgium as a precaution.
Defender Joe Gomez also suffered a serious knee injury while with England and he will be out of action for much of the season after having surgery.
Despite the bad news, Liverpool have been given a boost, with Klopp adding that Thiago, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are "in a good way" on their recovery from injury.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leicester clash, Klopp said: "We will see [who is fit]. Hendo not, Trent not. That is clear. Everyone else, we will see. Who were the others?
"They [Thiago and Fabinho] are in a good way. Ox is in a good way. They are closer but we will see if they are close enough for the weekend.
"[Gomez's injury is] a tough one but the surgery is successful so he is already recovering. He is with his family so he's in the best possible place. We help as much as we can."
Klopp was also adamant that his squad will 'fight' through the injury problems, adding: "We just take it game by game. There's no season when you don't have injury problems.
"It is always the same, it's slightly different in that a lot of players in the same position have got injured and seriously injured, which makes it tricky.
"Nobody here feels self-pity or sorry for ourselves, it's just the situation. At the moment it hits you but the next moment you are in the solution process.
"We have players available and as long as we have 11 players we will fight for three points with all we have. I don't think my players have to prove anything we always handle difficult situations well.
"We will fight with all we have and that means if the problems become bigger we will get closer. If somebody thinks we will give up before the game because some of our best players or most important players are not available I cannot help him.
"We have to accept the situation and use it."
