Liverpool injury update: Alexander Isak, Ryan Gravenberch, Jeremie Frimpong latest news and return dates

Liverpool slumped to a fourth straight Premier League defeat when they went down 3-2 at Brentford on Saturday.

The Reds have fallen seven points behind leaders Arsenal and Arne Slot knows his side must quickly rediscover form with some big games on the horizon.

Liverpool face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before crunch clashes at the start of November against Aston Villa, Real Madrid and then Manchester City.

Ahead of a big few weeks, here’s all the latest Liverpool injury news and return dates...

Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak has endured a difficult start to life at Anfield.

He was hooked at half-time as Liverpool beat Frankfurt in the Champions League last week and Slot later revealed the £125million summer signing had suffered a minor groin injury.

“Alexander had to go off at half-time because he felt his groin a little bit. That's a pity,” said Slot.

“I've said many times it is such a difficult balance to find with a player that missed three months.”

Isak was not in the squad against Brentford and Slot provided no update as to his condition.

Potential return date: Unknown

Ryan Gravenberch

Ryan Gravenberch sustained up a hamstring injury on international duty earlier this month and then twisted his ankle against Manchester United.

He attempted to continue after receiving treatment but was later replaced and missed the trip to Frankfurt.

Slot was optimistic that Gravenberch could be involved against Brentford, but the midfielder did not make the trip to west London.

Slot said: “It's an ankle injury, we have to wait and see, give him a bit of time and see where he is when we come back from Frankfurt.”

Jeremie Frimpong

Jeremie Frimpong is only a few months into his Liverpool career but is already facing a second spell on the sidelines.

He suffered a hamstring injury against Bournemouth in his Premier League debut and did the same against Frankfurt.

The right-back was dealt a further blow on Thursday, with reports revealing that the Dutchman would be out of action for six weeks.

That means that he could miss games against Aston Villa, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, PSV Eindhoven and West Ham at the very least.

Potential return date: December

Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones started against Brentford but asked to be replaced in the second half after going down with an injury.

The exact nature or severity of his issue is not clear but Slot did not seem overly alarmed by his condition when he spoke at full-time.

He said: “We have to wait and see. He asked to be taken off. He walked off instead of needing a lot of treatment so I have to wait and see.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker suffered a hamstring injury against Galatasaray in September.

Speaking ahead of the Brentford game, Slot said: "Alisson is not in the squad tomorrow. That's also going to take a little bit longer."

Slot had previously suggested that Alisson was weeks away from returning but Wednesday’s meeting with Crystal Palace is likely to come too soon.

Potential return date: November

Giovanni Leoni

Young centre-back Giovanni Leoni’s Liverpool career was cruelly stunted when he suffered an ACL injury on his debut.

The 18-year-old impressed in his first minutes in Liverpool colours as the Reds knocked Southampton out of the Carabao Cup, but went off on a stretcher in the second half.

He later underwent surgery and is expected to spend a year on the sidelines.

“He’s not in a good place, of course,” said Arne Slot. “He tore his ACL which means that he will be out for around a year.”

Potential return date: Late 2026
