Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson remain major doubts for Liverpool’s trip to Burnley but will be given every chance to prove their fitness, Jurgen Klopp has revealed.
Mane played on after sustaining a cut on his foot during the Reds’ dramatic 1-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday.
Robertson, meanwhile, is contending with a dead leg picked up in that derby victory - though he is rated more likely to return.
Asked about the pair’s chances of featuring at Burnley on Wednesday, Klopp replied: “Sadio and Robbo, we need to have another look today.
“Sadio had a really awful cut on his foot, it needed to be stitched. It’s okay, he’s walking around here now in flip flops - but we don’t play in flip flops.
“That means in this moment he’s not ready but we will see later.
“With Robbo, it’s not that serious like with Sadio, but we need to have a look.”
Klopp also offered an update on the progress of long-term absentee Rhian Brewster.
The 18-year-old underwent surgery in January after seriously injuring his ankle while appearing for the club’s U23s team.
Klopp added: “Not that close that we would have to talk about it now. He’s here around, our boy gets the best treatment he can get, all that stuff.
“But it’s not that he will start tomorrow or next week, there is still a lot of work to do.”
