Liverpool injury, suspension list: Team news and predicted line-up vs Southampton

Training as normal: Virgil van Dijk will be fit to face Southampton on Friday night (Picture: Liverpool FC via Getty Images)

Virgil van Dijk has trained normally and will be fit to feature for Liverpool at Southampton on Friday, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Dutchman was spotted with an ice pack strapped to his ankle after the Reds’ dramatic 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday having turned the joint during a challenge with Moussa Sissoko.

However, he suffered no lasting effects from the tackle and has played a full part in training in recent days.

Asked about Liverpool’s injury situation, Klopp said: “[It] looks quite good, no major concerns, actually.

“We have to see until the match obviously but after the [Spurs] game probably you think about Virgil - he trained normally, everything okay.

“Yesterday, we only had the second recovery session but he was involved in that and I heard nothing different that he could maybe not train today.

“It looks all okay.”

Klopp’s injury list is clearing up significantly ahead of the run-in, with long-term absentees Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez now his only minor concerns.

Both players have returned to full training since overcoming knee and leg injuries respectively and will be considered for selection after building up fitness.

That would provide the Reds with a fully-fit squad as they look to deliver on a two-pronged trophy assault in the coming weeks.

Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Milner, Salah, Mane, Firmino
