Liverpool injury, suspension list: Team news and predicted line-up vs Norwich

Jurgen Klopp will have an almost fully-fit squad to choose from when Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign against Norwich City on Friday evening.

But the German must decide whether Sadio Mane is capable of slotting straight into the starting XI after returning from his summer break just four days ago.

James Milner’s fitness had been a concern for the Reds after he missed last weekend’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City with a muscle issue.

However, Klopp said of the Yorkshireman: “Millie trained yesterday with the team 100 per cent, he could have trained probably on Tuesday but we were not in.

“He will be fine.”

Mane returned to training with Liverpool 24 hours after that Wembley clash with the reigning Premier League champions.

Asked if the Senegalese could feature against Norwich, his manager replied: “Yes. He had only two weeks off, so he didn’t lose a lot and that’s the good news.

“He looks fit. Yes, he is an option.

“Yesterday was the first session with the team because Monday he came in about four o’clock or so when we’d already left and Tuesday the team was off and he had his individual session.

“Yes, he [was] now with the team for the first time and looks absolutely OK, in good spirits and looking forward to it.

“So, yes, he’s an option but we will see.”

That leaves Nathaniel Clyne as the only guaranteed absentee, with the defender having sustained a serious knee ligament injury during the recent tour of the United States.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Salah, Origi, Firmino.
