Liverpool injury round-up and expected return dates - Origi, Jones, Phillips latest

Liverpool face a tough assignment when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday but will aim to make it seven straight Premier League victories against Antonio Conte’s side.

The Reds have been on an incredible run of late, winning all six of their Premier League fixtures since their 3-2 loss to West Ham at the start of November - scoring 14 goals in the process.

And they sit just one point and one place behind leaders Manchester City heading into the weekend, as they look to regain top spot.

But Jurgen Klopp has a few players in the treatment room as things stand and will be hoping that one or two could return for the clash in north London.

Here is all you need to know about the current state of play at Anfield and the potential return dates for those currently out injured.

Can Liverpool collect all three points against Spurs on Sunday? Have your say in the comments section below.

Divock Origi

Recent hero Divock Origi has been out of action since picking up a knee injury during training last week, meaning he was unavailable for the games against Aston Villa on Saturday and then Newcastle United on Thursday.

It isn’t confirmed as to how serious the injury is, but there is optimism that he may once again be available for selection against Tottenham on Sunday.

Prior to the defeat of Villa, Klopp said: "Divock is not in the squad; he had some problems in training yesterday. He started, I don't think it's anything serious; he's just not ready."

Curtis Jones

After missing the past nine games since suffering a freak eye injury, Curtis Jones has returned to training this week and could be set for a return against Spurs.

The midfielder has been recovering for a number of weeks as a precautionary measure, but after staying fit nonetheless, he is now available to return to action.

Speaking on Tuesday, Klopp said: "Curtis had the first session like partial with the team, so he's not far off."

Adrian

Liverpool ’s third choice goalkeeper Adrian has been out of the squad ever since suffering an injury following the Carabao Cup win over Preston North End in October.

The Spaniard picked up a calf injury and is still recovering as things stand.

It is not yet known when Adrian will return to the squad, but there is a chance it may not be until the new year.

Nathaniel Phillips

Centre-back Nathaniel Phillips is due to be out for the long run after fracturing his cheekbone during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against AC Milan in the Champions League at the beginning of the month.

The 24-year-old impressed on the night but is now not expected back until the new year as he continues his recovery.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s game with Aston Villa, Klopp said: "We have to be careful. How long exactly it will take I don't know, maybe 4-5 weeks."

Harvey Elliott

Long-term absentee Harvey Elliot continues to recover from the horrific ankle injury he suffered during September’s victory over Leeds United at Elland Road.

Elliot dislocated his ankle when on the receiving end of a challenge but has undergone successful surgery since, and is expected to make a full recovery at some point next year.

The youngster has been back at the club’s training ground doing individual work, however, as he steps up his road to recovery.
