Liverpool in pole position for £35m striker, Man Utd given green light for £75m star as Chelsea man hands in transfer request

Transfer news, gossip and rumour is set to go into overdrive when the final Premier League fixtures are played out this weekend.

We take a look at the latest Premier League transfer rumours.

Striker rejects Liverpool talk

Maxi Gomez has rejected talk that he is set to sign for Liverpool.

The Celta Vigo hitman has been in good form in La Liga, and Jurgen Klopp sees him as a replacement for outgoing Daniel Sturridge.

Asked about his future, Gomez told Marca: "There are many comments through social networks, what if I sign for Barcelona, if I go to Liverpool. I am very calm and in Vigo I feel very comfortable."

Former Atletico star confirms failed United transfer

Diego Godin has announced his departure from Atletico Madrid ahead of a potential move to Serie A side Inter Milan, but Manchester United could have landed the 33-year-old.

The reality is that a deal was on the table for Godin to move to Old Trafford last summer but the defender has now revealed why he turned down United.

“I refused Manchester United’s bid one year ago because I decided to stay at Atletico Madrid,” Godin said.

Godin is now expected to join Inter Milan, with an announcement believed to be taking place in the coming days.

There have also been suggestions that it was United who ended the interest in Godin due to his ‘excessive wage demands’.

United set for record breaking deal?

Sticking with Man Utd and whilst they haven’t landed Godin, it seems like they will be going back in for a centre-back they have long admired.

Leicester City and England star Harry Maguire was heavily linked with the Red Devils last summer and the Evening Standard are reporting that the club are eager to revive that interest.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to bring in Maguire last year but it’s now believed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given the green light to pursue the 26-year-old.

Any deal for Maguire would likely surpass the world record fee paid for a defender when Liverpool spent £75m to prize Virgil van Dijk away from Southampton.

De Ligt rejects Red Devils

We will move on to another Premier League club shortly but here is another line on United.

Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt has reportedly rejected the chance to make a £60m move to Old Trafford this summer.

Despite a five-year deal reportedly sitting on the table, De Ligt will not join United and is instead highly likely to make a move to Barcelona.

Liverpool join race for Brazilian forward

Liverpool have jumped into the battle for Ajax forward David Neres, according to the Sun.

Neres impressed for the Dutch side during their 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur last week and faces the Premier League side again on Wednesday in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

Jurgen Klopp is now believed to be interested in his services, with Chelsea and Arsenal already previously linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who is valued at £35m.

Hazard considering transfer request

Eden Hazard has long been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer and the latest update does not sound good for fans.

Reports in Spain suggest that the Belgium international is preparing to hand in a transfer request.

Hazard is seemingly edging closer to a switch to Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane a known admirer of the 28-year-old. If Hazard was to hand in a transfer request that would all-but end his career at Chelsea.
