Liverpool hotter than parts of Spain today as mini heatwave continues

Warm weather looks set to continue right across the region this weekend - with temperatures higher than in parts of Spain.

It's a welcome change from just a couple of weeks ago when Liverpool was hit with showers and hail storms.

This May was one of the wettest on record - with 91% of the expected rainfall for the entire month having fallen by May 14.

Today is expected to be the hottest day of the week ahead, with highs of up to 22C at around 2pm. - while parts of Northern Spain will struggle to reach 17C.

The Met Office said: "Another fine and dry day with plenty of sunny spells. The odd light shower is possible in the east later.

"Feeling warm by day, though chilly in places overnight. Maximum temperature 22 °C"

Looking ahead to Sunday, nationwide temperatures are expected to lower a little bit, with fine and dry weather for Liverpool.

Highs of 17C are predicted at around 4pm on Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday look to be a "mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, staying on the warm side".
