Liverpool hotter than Ibiza today as UK heatwave set to continue

Liverpool will be hotter than Ibiza today as the heatwave across the UK continues.

Yesterday was the hottest day of 2021 so far - and it was the first day of meteorological summer, with a balmy 25.8C recorded in both Cardiff and Middle Wallop.

The warm weather has been a welcome break for people following a washout May, which brought heavy downpours and prolonged spells of rain for much of the UK.

And today is expected to be another fine day, especially for those in the North West.

In Liverpool, temperatures will reach a sweltering 27C by 3pm, whereas the likes of Ibiza will struggle to hit 23C.

The Met Office said: "Another fine and dry day with plenty of sunshine between the occasional fair-weather cloud.

"Becoming breezy at times, especially along the coast, but still feeling warm."

Looking ahead to Thursday, nationwide temperatures are expected to lower a little bit with fine and dry weather for most, although a few thundery showers remain possible.
