Liverpool 'hold talks' with Mino Raiola over Erling Haaland transfer deal

By Tom Cavilla

Liverpool looked back to their best on Sunday afternoon against Leeds United.

Despite concerns from some regarding the Reds' lack of squad depth, Jurgen Klopp's side won comprehensively at Elland Road to send out another warning to the rest of the Premier League.

Few have backed Liverpool for the title this campaign, but the early evidence suggests that the Reds will be challenging at the top of the table once again.

The Reds were linked with the Belgium international over the summer, but a deal failed to materialise for the Foxes' star.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder, who is under contract at the King Power Stadium until 2023.

The report adds that he is a player Barcelona admire but that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are expected to also register interest.

What?

Liverpool are understood have held talks with agent Mino Raiola regarding a potential deal for Erling Haaland within the last 12 months.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is in high demand due to his goalscoring exploits of the last two years, with a number of top European clubs chasing his signature.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and PSG were among the sides said to be eyeing a deal this summer, but no side was able to successfully negotiate a deal for the Norwegian.

It's expected that teams will battle it out for Haaland next summer, at which point his release clause is expected to be £68million.

Whether or not Liverpool will be one of the sides who make their move for the 21-year-old remains to be seen.

Mohamed Salah.

Sky Sports.

What?

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Liverpool must do everything possible to tie Mohamed Salah down to a new deal.

The Egyptian forward has enjoyed another strong start to a Premier League season, having scored three goals in the opening four games.

Salah's contract is set to expire in 2023 and Carragher hopes a solution can be found regarding extending his terms at the club.

"Now, he obviously wants a few quid. And rightly so. Good luck to him. He deserves it. He deserves to be one of the highest paid players in the Premier League for what he has done since he came to Liverpool, he really does," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"He is never injured and year after year he is top goalscorer. He just is. That is what he is.

"You always debate about money, the player wants a bit more, the club wants a bit less, but that needs to be sorted. Fingers crossed it will because he deserves it for what he has done for Liverpool."
