Liverpool hold back cheapest Champions League final tickets for loyal fans as ballot chances revealed

Liverpool have taken steps to ensure that loyal supporters will have access to the cheapest available tickets for the Champions League final.

The Reds have released a breakdown of how the 16,613 seats they have been given for the showdown with Tottenham in Madrid on June 1 will be allocated.

Some 63% (10,466) will be for general admission followed by 25% (4,153) for seasonal hospitality members and priority rights holders.

Matchday officials, first-team players, former players and media will account for 11% (1,827) with commercial partners taking around 1% (167).

The tickets are in four price categories: £513, £385, £154 and £60. Anfield officials have held back all of the £60 tickets for general admission fans to purchase.

That amounts to 3,322 seats so a large number of supporters who qualify for a ticket will have to pay for the £154 tickets – around 8,971 of Liverpool's total allocation is in that category.

The Reds expect that more than 90% of eligible fans will be able to buy tickets from the two lowest price points. The higher priced tickets are being utilised for the club's contractual allocations.

A ballot is taking place this week for season ticket holders, members and fan card holders who have recorded six Champions League matches during 2018/19.

Some 30,508 qualifying supporters have registered for the ballot which means they have a one in 4.6 chance of being successful.

The Electoral Reform Services will undertake the ballot process and the club will notify supporters of the outcome via email on Thursday.
