Liverpool hero Pepe Reina edging closer to Reds reunion with medical booked ahead of Premier League return

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is set to move back to the Premier League this month, with a loan deal to Aston Villa expected to be concluded early this week.

The Spaniard, according to the Daily Mail, has agreed to move to Villa Park until the end of the season, with his medical set to take place in Birmingham on Monday.

Now 37, Reina has been brought in because usual number one Tom Heaton suffered a season-ending injury earlier this month against former club Burnley at Turf Moor.

Orjan Nyland is expected to start against Liverpool's title rivals Manchester City for Dean Smith's men tomorrow, before Reina comes in ready for their game against  Brighton next weekend.

Reina could make an emotional return to Anfield on April 11, when the Reds will host his new side in the Premier League.
