Liverpool helps give LeBron James a winning weekend

LeBron James celebrated like many Liverpool fans around the world on Saturday when the club defeated Tottenham in Saturday’s Champions League final in Madrid.

James bought a two percent stake in the club earlier in the decade and that investment has certainly paid off over the years as the club has risen to the top of Europe for the first time since 2005.

LeBron could be seen live tweeting the game and cheering on the Reds. LeBron actually facilitated the deal by giving image rights to the Fenway Sports Group, the American-based conglomerate that also owns the Boston Red Sox.

The acquisition of the stock in Liverpool is highlighted in Brian Windhorst’s new book LeBron Inc.: The Making of the Million Dollar Athlete. During an interview with LeBron Wire, Windhorst said that he believed the value of the investment has multiplied five or six times in the eight years since acquiring it.
