Kaide Gordon continued his impressive form as Liverpool U23s beat League One side AFC Wimbledon 3-1 in a friendly at Plough Lane.
Just over a week after scoring on his Premier League 2 debut against Leicester City, Gordon scored in either half to make it three goals in two appearances for Barry Lewtas’ side.
And the young Reds helped the home side make history.
The match was arranged as a test event by AFC Wimbledon as they welcomed around 2,000 fans, socially distanced, into their new stadium for the first time.
Caoimhin Kelleher was back between the sticks for Liverpool after returning from injury and he was beaten by Callum Reilly after just six minutes.
But Joe Hardy restored parity for the young Reds before Gordon scored his first of the evening just after the half-hour mark.
Gordon, who was signed for the Reds in February for a fee that could reach £3million from Derby County, then struck again in the second half at the Dons’ new Plough Lane home.
"It was a fantastic atmosphere, the AFC Wimbledon fans were so loud and it felt like the ground was full,” Lewtas told liverpoolfc.com after the game.
"It was a really good occasion and a really good game and it was a great opportunity for us to come down here and play against a strong side.
"I was delighted with the lads and we played really well, and it was a great way to end the campaign at U23 level."
