Liverpool have title advantage over Man City, Man United and Chelsea, and Jurgen Klopp will love it

The new season is just less than 24 hours away, as Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool prepare to launch their bid to win back their league crown from Pep Guardiola and Man City.

On a special podcast exclusively for members of the Blood Red Club, we asked reporters from each of the clubs that Liverpool are expected to battle for the Premier League title with - both Manchester sides and Chelsea - what the teams they cover think about the Reds.

This is what they had to say, with their responses having a common theme: Liverpool might just have been forgotten about. But that is exactly what Klopp and his players will love.

Manchester United

Rich Fay, Manchester Evening News: "Liverpool have been almost hard done by because people seem to have forgotten just how good they are under Klopp, and they seem to be going under the radar.

"Man United fans are predicting it to be City, Chelsea and United for the title, but when Liverpool are at their best and have their strongest team out, they are arguably still the strongest team in the league.

"They might not have the squad depth and that is still something that could undermine Liverpool, and maybe they don't have as many attacking options, but they are a team in the discussion, even if United fans are not viewing them as title contenders at all."

Man City

Alex Brotherton, Man City fan brand writer for the MEN: "I think most City fans are viewing Chelsea as their main competitors, rather than Liverpool.

"That is owing to Liverpool's lack of transfer activity - aside from Ibrahima Konate early in the window from RB Leipzig - and what happened with Chelsea last season, losing to them in the FA Cup and the Champions League.

"That will remain the case if they bring in Romelu Lukaku, and personally I think Chelsea are more well-positioned to challenge.

"Once Liverpool get Van Dijk back and he has a run of games, they will look much more solid, and the addition of Konate can only be a good thing, but I just wonder if there has been enough regeneration in the attacking department.

"I wonder if Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota are going to be quite as effective as they were at times last season.

"Liverpool will be up and around there, but my personal opinion is that the title race will be between Man City and Chelsea."

Chelsea

Sam Inkersole, Football London: "Liverpool are not going to have that horrible injury crisis again. Virgil van Dijk coming back is massive and it's still Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp, an elite coach.

" Roberto Firmino will have a better season this time around compared to last, they still have Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane there, and Naby Keita, if he can stay fit. Fabinho as well - Liverpool are still incredibly strong.

"Last season was about a ridiculous injury situation and certainly, this season, I am expecting them to be there or thereabouts.

"They still have plenty of miles in the tank, and Van Dijk coming back is transformational. I'm expecting them to be in title contention once again."
