Liverpool have no intention of selling any player in January, confirm Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that Liverpool will not allow Xherdan Shaqiri to leave the club during the January transfer window.

As reported by Standard Sport on Tuesday , the Swiss has been the subject of rejected loan bids from both Roma and Sevilla this month.

Reports in Italy have suggested that a permanent offer worth €15m might be enough to tempt the Reds, but it is understood that they would expect at least twice that amount - and only in the summer.

Klopp has now confirmed the club’s stance, insisting that he has no intention of weakening his squad as they prepare for a three-pronged assault on silverware.

He said: “The majority of December and January, we had a bench full of kids. Wonderful kids, but kids.

“So, how could we think about giving a player to anybody? I don’t understand that.

“It’s not about Shaq or whatever, it’s about pretty much everybody, that we just have to keep them for sorting our situation and not the situation for different clubs.

“If somebody would come around the corner and ask properly - that didn’t happen - and they are desperate, then we think.

“But there is no intention from our side to do anything.”
