Liverpool have major selection headache Manchester United and Man City are now facing

Jurgen Klopp could be handed a selection headache next month after Liverpool's Brazilian contingent were called up for international duty.

Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho have all been included in the Selecao squad for their latest round of World Cup qualifiers in September.

With the South American programme having been disrupted heavily by the coronavirus pandemic, Brazil will play three games in eight days as they seek to catch up on lost fixtures.

As a consequence, the third of those games - at home to Peru - does not take place until the evening of Thursday, September 9 local time, which is in the early hours of the following morning in the UK.

It means Premier League clubs are almost certain to be without most if not all their South American international contingent for that weekend's round of fixtures.

Among those likely to be affected are Manchester City and Manchester United, who are both in action at 3pm on Saturday, September 11 playing at Leicester City and at home to Newcastle United respectively.

Liverpool don't play until the Sunday, when they travel to Leeds United for a 4.30pm match.

But with barely 61 hours between Brazil's match against Peru ending and kick-off at Elland Road, it casts major doubt over whether any of Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino will be involved for the Reds.

Alisson started Saturday's 3-0 win at Norwich City while Fabinho and Firmino came off the bench shortly after the hour, with the latter scoring Liverpool's second goal.
