Liverpool have made Levi Colwill approach in 'last few days' as feelings clear over transfer

Welcome to your Liverpool FC morning digest for Thursday, July 6.

Liverpool enquire 'multiple times' over Levi Colwill as Chelsea transfer stance clear

Liverpool have enquired about signing Chelsea defender Levi Colwill this summer. That's according to the ECHO's sister website football.london, who report that despite Liverpool's making their interest clear, Chelsea remain determined to keep hold of the young defender.

The 20-year-old is due to return to the Blues once the European Under-21 Championship, where he is representing finalists England, has concluded. Colwill is a man very much in demand this summer after a very impressive 2022/23 season on loan down on the south coast with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls have attempted to sign their former loanee permanently, seeing two bids rejected by Chelsea. It is believed his parent club want to tie Colwill down to a new long-term contract, with his current deal in west London due to expire in less than two years.

There is still some lingering doubt surrounding his future, though. Colwill wants assurances over the amount of first-team football available to him at Chelsea next season and faces competition from fellow left-footed defender Benoit Badiashile.

Liverpool fans purr over Curtis Jones and Levi Colwill after England U21s reach final

England's under-21 side are through to the final of the European Under-21 Championship after Lee Carsley's team eased past Israel with a 3-0 win.

Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White, Cole Palmer and Cameron Archer booked the Young Lions' place in the final.

Liverpool fans will have had a particular interest in events at the Adjarabet Arena, with two of the club's most exciting talents featuring for the winners.

While Harvey Elliott was forced to settle for a place on the bench, and only played 16 minutes as a second-half substitute, Curtis Jones featured for 88 minutes and caught the eye in a man-of-the-match display. Then there's Levi Colwill.
