Liverpool legend Phil Thompson believes new signing Fabio Carvalho is going to be a 'star' and has likened him to David Beckham.
The 19-year-old made the move to Merseyside from Fulham earlier this summer, having played a key role in the Cottagers push for promotion last season. Carvalho has already made an impression in his short time at Liverpool so far and there is plenty more expected of him.
That's according to Thompson, who made 450 appearances for the Reds during his playing days. The ex-defender, now pundit, believes Carvalho holds similar qualities to the likes of Beckham.

He told the Off The Ball podcast : “I’ve seen enough of him for Fulham but what he brings and what I think Liverpool look at, as much as the goals, are the assists. I think they’re big things that people look at. Yes, you can help people with those but you have to have – you go back to David Beckham.
“People go ‘oh he picks people out’ – no he doesn’t. He puts the ball in the right area for strikers and that’s what Carvalho is. He is going to be a star, I can tell you. He’s got so much ability and he will shock everybody.”
Carvalho made 36 appearances for Fulham in the Championship last season and scored an impressive 10 goals in that time. He also registered eight assists and scored against Manchester City in their FA Cup fourth round defeat.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has also tipped the youngster to become an important player for the Reds this season. He said ahead of the game against Fulham at the weekend: "(He is a) top player. I really love it. He's a massive talent and a really good kid.
"I'm really happy to have him, so it's very important for us because we count on this age group as well. We don't wait now until they are 22, 23 or whatever and use them.
"He is ready like Harvey (Elliott) is ready in the similar age group. That's really cool. We all need luck in life as well with injury and stuff like this, but without that he will be a really important player for us."
