Your morning digest for Sunday, July 18.

Saul Niguez agent speaks out amid Liverpool transfer links

Joshua Barnett, the agent of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has spoken out about the future of his Spanish client as rumours continue to link the 26-year-old with a summer switch to Anfield.

And his agent has now whetted the appetite of many Reds fans online as he has provided a mysterious update on the future of Saul.

Man City's £472m loan proves FSG and Liverpool approach right

Fenway Sports Group's decision to expand their business portfolio with the recent addition of RedBird Capital has been proved right by the moves of Manchester City's ownership group, the City Football Group.

CFG have taken out a £472m ($650m) loan, underwritten by Barclays, in one of the biggest debt deals sport has seen, surpassing even Barcelona's restructuring debt that was struck with US investment bank Goldman Sachs earlier this summer to enable them to meet their significant short-term debt obligations.

The CFG currently oversee 11 different football clubs across the world as they seek another stream of income in years to come.

And Liverpool's owners, FSG, agreed a $750m deal for 11 per cent of the business with RedBird in March, with CFG having agreed a $500m (£363m) deal with US private equity firm Silver Lake in 2019.

That deal valued the CFG business at $4.8bn (£3.5bn), less than the $7.5bn (£5.5bn) that the Red Sox is said to be worth, with Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox both in the top 20 most valuable sports teams in the world.
