Liverpool handed Naby Keita injury concern ahead of Chelsea in Super Cup

Naby Keita will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s Super Cup after leaving midway through open training.

Liverpool meet Chelsea in the European curtain raiser at Istanbul’s Vodafone Park.

Ahead of the game, the European champions were hosting an open training session at the stadium when Keita was forced off.

The midfielder made a beeline for the tunnel in some discomfort and was flanked by a coach.

It’s unclear at this stage what the player’s injury is, but the 24-year-old will be checked over ahead of the game.

Keita has endured a injury-plagued few months at Anfield.

An adductor injury sustained in the 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final on May 1 ended his season.

A hasty return to action for Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations also curtailed his campaign in Egypt before he returned to training with the Reds earlier this summer.
