Liverpool handed major selection boost ahead of Merseyside derby as Henderson and Firmino return

Jurgen Klopp has been given a huge Merseyside derby boost after the majority of his Liverpool players reported back for training after international duty.

Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, who were with Brazil for their World Cup qualifying win in Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning, joined in the session at Melwood on Thursday afternoon.

Naby Keita was the only notable fresh absentee from the session as Liverpool ramped up their preparations for Saturday's visit to Premier League leaders Everton.

Jordan Henderson, who came off the bench for England in their UEFA Nations League defeat at home to Denmark on Wednesday night, took part in the session along with Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who were unused substitutes at Wembley.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino, Curtis Jones, Divock Origi and Andy Robertson were involved, while Dutch duo Gini Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk and Portuguese forward Diogo Jota were also present.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara, Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip, James Milner and Adrian had already been working at Melwood this week having not been on international duty the past fortnight.

Alisson Becker, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kostas Tsimikas continue to recover from their respective injury issues.
