Liverpool handed injury blow ahead of Super Cup clash with Chelsea

Liverpool have been handed a potential selection headache ahead of the UEFA Super Cup clash with Chelsea in Istanbul, with Naby Keita picking up an issue.

The Reds trained at Besiktas' stadium ahead of Wednesday night's clash but Keita was forced off the field prematurely, putting his involvement in tomorrow's game in doubt.

Keita, who struggled with injury issues last season, left the training session alongside a fitness coach and Jurgen Klopp could now be forced to change his plans for tomorrow's clash.

The Guinea international featured in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City but was absent for the opening match of the Premier League season, which Liverpool won 4-1 against Norwich City.

He was expected to feature in the tie against Chelsea but his exit from training suggests he could be forced to miss the game, which is good news for Chelsea as it puts them on a level playing field.

Frank Lampard confirmed in his pre-match press conference that N'Golo Kante suffered a small injury in Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, with the World Cup winner also potentially sitting out of tomorrow's game.
