Liverpool handed huge fitness boost as trio return to full training

Liverpool have been boosted after Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones were all released from isolation after catching Covid-19.

The trio have missed the Reds' last three matches after testing positive for the virus, although Jurgen Klopp has been quick to reassure fans all three were fine and not showing any symptoms.

And as Liverpool took part in training on Christmas Eve, the trio were all pictured wearing Christmas hats as the majority of the Reds squad posed for a festive picture.

However, Thiago Alcantara was one of a number of players missing, with the Spaniard seemingly still isolating after contracting the virus himself.

The return of Van Dijk, Fabinho and Jones will be a welcome boost for manager Klopp heading into a busy festive period, with their presence alongside their team-mates confirming they have now tested negative for Covid-19 and are fit to resume training.

Whether they would be fit to start Liverpool's next match remains to be seen.

However, after the Reds' Boxing Day meeting with Leeds United was called off due to the Whites suffering a Covid-19 outbreak of their own, Van Dijk, Fabinho and Jones have until Tuesday to recover fitness and convince Klopp they could feature away at Leicester City.
