Liverpool handed Donyell Malen transfer boost as PSV confirm exit stance

PSV Eindhoven boss Roger Schmidt has admitted reported Liverpool target Donyell Malen is likely to leave this summer.

The Reds have been frequently linked with a move for the Netherlands international in recent months, as have Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

Reports have claimed that Liverpool could open talks to sign the forward in the coming weeks, but as things stand there is no indication of whether any of the rumours are true.

Schmidt has been speaking about the possibility of Malen leaving PSV this summer, along with teammate Denzel Dumfries who has been linked with Everton.

The PSV boss says that he expects Malen to move on this summer, opening the door to a potential move to Liverpool.

"That's how it goes in football, especially at PSV, we lose one or two good players every year," Schmidt told Dutch news outlet NOS .

"It has been clear to me for some time that Donyell and Denzel are likely to leave. Actually last summer.

“I also take it into account and if they do stay, that is great.

"But we have to prepare ourselves that we will have to play without both next season.”
