Liverpool hand Chelsea and Man City Jude Bellingham transfer boost with John Henry admission

Chelsea may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of England international Jude Bellingham this summer after an admission from Liverpool owner John Henry. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder continues to be linked with a huge move in the next few months, having impressed for the Bundesliga outfit.

Some reports have claimed that Bellingham could be valued as highly as £150million, a move that would smash the British transfer record set by the Blues in January after signing Enzo Fernandez for £106million from Benfica. The 19-year-old has shown plenty of ability and leadership since joining Dortmund, with Chelsea set to get another glimpse of that when they face the German outfit in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Manager Edin Terzic was questioned about the youngster's future ahead of the tie, responding: "With all respect for Jude and his performance, we are answering these kinds of questions since he arrived [in 2020]. Before he chose to join us, he had opportunities to join the Premier League. There was loads of interest from top-flight clubs.

"But he chose to join us because he knows it can be the perfect step for him. I think we’ve proven it both ways. He’s helping us a lot. But we as a club are helping him and his career as well. We are really happy that he’s part of our team, he’s one of our leaders at 19."

It remains to be seen where Bellingham's future lies beyond this summer, with Liverpool being touted among a number of other clubs. However, they could be out of the race to land the midfielder after an admission from owner John Henry in an exclusive interview with The Guardian.

He said on the vision for the club: "We continue building at Liverpool Football Club in a responsible manner. We’ve seen many football clubs (including LFC previously) go down unsustainable paths. We have and will continue to focus our attention on investing wisely in the transfer market and we remain incredibly proud of our squad.

"At the same time we continue investing in our training facilities, our main stand and currently the Anfield Road stand. These are all physical reflections of our resolve and how very seriously Fenway Sports Group takes its responsibilities for this great club."
