Liverpool Council has approved its budget plans for the next financial year after a heated meeting on Wednesday.
The council is aiming to save £25m with a host of measures including a maximum Council Tax rise of 2.99% as well as cuts to the social care budget.
One of the most controversial moves within the budget is to bring in a new annual charge for the collection of green waste bins for residents in the city.

Not everyone has green bins, but for those who do, they will be keen to know details of this new charge, now that its been approved.
Not all of the information is available about how the new measure will be implemented, so we have rounded up what we know at this stage.
How much is the new green bin charge?
The new charge will be £40 per year for those who want their green waste bins collected.
The council hopes that the move will bring in around £1.7 million.
When will the charge be introduced?
The new charge will come in from Monday April 18.
From Monday March 7 people will be able to make that payment on the council's website.
If you can't pay online, payments can be made at a One Stop Shop or by phone on 01512333001.
When the new scheme is introduced, only green bins registered with the council under the new chargeable service will be collected.
How will you know which bins are part of the scheme?
Residents will get a sticker which they can put on their bins, so that they are easily identifiable.
In addition, all properties that have signed up to the scheme will be listed on a separate database.
What if you don't want to pay the charge?
If a resident not wish to not take part in the scheme, then the green bins will be removed at some point in the future, or alternatively they can be kept, in case the resident wants to opt in at a later stage.
What if people are struggling financially and cannot pay?
The council says it is looking at ways in which we can ease the burden.
This includes establishing a hardship fund for the most vulnerable.
Details on a payment system will be announced in due course.
