Manchester City produced 'their best performance of the season' during a pulsating 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
That's the verdict from pundit and former Liverpool winger, John Barnes, who admits a victory for the Reds would have been incredibly harsh on Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team.
Goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah twice put Liverpool in front during that Anfield showdown.
However, after winning three titles in the last four years, City underlined their own Premier League credentials yet again with a double fight-back - courtesy of Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne.
It was a point they deserved at the very least, according to Barnes, as the England hero compared Guardiola to his contemporary in the opposing dugout; Jurgen Klopp.
Barnes said: "It was fantastic and, particularly from a Liverpool perspective, because the last 20 minutes in the first half we were hanging on. City were by far the better team.
"Second half we were much more intense, determined - we pressed much higher up the field, we won the ball, we had some possession and, of course, Mo Salah scored a goal worthy of winning any game.

"It probably would have been harsh on City had we won, because that's the best I've seen City play this season.
"They're much more intricate and methodical in their play. We're much more dynamic and direct.
"It was a game of two teams playing with the right identity which suits them, so it was a great game for the neutral, a great game for the fans and a fair result."
